Target is My Frenemy.

I feel so Gossip Girl using the word Frenemy.  But it's true.  I have a love/hate relationship with that store.  I love it for the same reasons you do: the cheap popcorn and coke combos, the Dollar Spot, the cute polka-dotted diapers, and the varied assortments of cheap but quality everything.

I hate it for all those same reasons.  I cannot escape that store with the only select few items on my list.

Anyway, tonight I needed a little stability in my life.  My house is a disaster and I just couldn't stand the chaos for another second. The dishes in the bathtub, the stove sticking out like an awkward appliance in the dining room, and the vacant yet still totally ugly kitchen were all causing me to go 12 kinds of crazy. So, with B off at night class, Becks and I left in pursuit of men's deodorant and Maybeline's Blackest Black mascara.  Because a man without his deodorant isn't pleasant, but neither I am without the blackest black eyelashes.

And Target...sweet and organized Target...with it's predictable red carts, ridiculously florescent lighting, and rows upon rows of orderly stocked shelves were just what I needed to feel a little more secure in life.  That and a half-Diet Coke, half-Dr.Pepper medium coke.

We were there for almost two hours browsing the aisles, eating popcorn, and taking pictures of my soon-to-be kitchen accessories.

Take for example this gorgeous cast iron recipe holder.  Love it.  Too bad it's not equipped to hold my laptop since 99% of the recipes I use are from a dot com address and not the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook.

And this plastic tumbler.  For $1.99.  I want twelve.

I really love and adore this quilted bedspread, which will obviously not go in the kitchen.  But still.

All in all, I walked out with my mascara, a three-pack of Right Guard, and a random pair of legwarmers for a spirit wear day.  And a couple random Dollar Spot items.  And a three-pack of hoop earrings.  See?  Frenemies.

Wow! I love that bedspread. Maybe a whole bedroom remodel is in order. By the way... we totally used paper plates and plasticware and the microwave when we redid our kitchen.
My husband packed the dishes while I was at work and it wasn't worth going thru the boxes to look for them. I don't think one dish got washed during the entire remodel!

My absolute favorite store! But I have never left that store with under 85 dollars worth of merchandise, even when my mission is a $3.50 bottle of Pantene!

I love the glasses! I want a set now too! I love Target but get to one rarely! We have to drive 2 1/2 hours to get to the nearest one so it is a treat for me when I go! I to love the organization the colored themes and all the great designs! Don't even get me started on the Dollar Area! LOL, my husband dubs that the 50.00 area! As a teacher, I am always finding way too many things there!
Funny, I have the same cookbook you do! Does your husband get nervous when you have yours in the kitchen? Mine is always nervous about me having mine anywhere in the kitchen LOL!

After being cooped up for days we went to Target today too. We needed paper plates and body wash. HOWEVER we picked up Thomas Misty Island Rescue 75% off, wayyy cute vday shirt for C, more polka dot diapers, a few pair of clearance jeans and $100 worth of other stuff. Ugh. Snow days are expensive. I agree that frienemy is a good name.

Very cute quilt!
I live in Canada and it was (finally!) announced today that Target is coming our way!! Hooray!! Love that store whenever I'm vacationing in the US and am so excited it will be here, even if it's not for another two years! :)
You have such great style, can't wait to see your finished kitchen remodel.

ah Target. I was lamenting the whole frenemy issue tonight when I was there. But that rain check I had hidden away for a $14.99 Complete Season of Glee was calling my name and the 5 other random things that made it in my cart...
Love the Bedspread!

don't you just LOVE the tumblers and plates they have out right now?! makes me want to re-do my whole kitchen and get rid of everything I own. I have to agree- definitely in the "frenemy" category for me.

I found your blog while searching for some fun penguin activities to do with my class. First of all, your unit was awesome! Thanks for some great ideas! Second, I could not resist commenting on this post because Target and I are also frenemies. I went in for coffee creamer yesterday and left with $50 worth of goodies!

Right?1? What the heck is it about that place that's SO dang addicting?? Even my hubby goes crazy when we go in there! And lists? Who sticks to the list when they go in there? I know I certainly never can! Glad it's not just me. Ha! :)

I have the same relationship! I actually just applied for a nights and weekends job at Target and about 50% of my motivation is for the discount! LOVE that quilt! And I'm sure your kitchen will be beautiful!!

Abs-you would have been so proud...I've been holding out on buying a second crib for Mr. M...and then the target gods smiled down on me yesterday because I found a white crib and changing table that I love (not cheap looking/similar to Henry's WAY more expensive set) and GET THIS...normally close to $400...on clearance-got both for $150. I wanted to kiss the lady in target that told me they actually still had a set in stock despite ridiculously low price. MUAH target.

I feel your pain. I always come out there with more than I had planned!

Glad I'm not the only one who spends 2 hours in Target! :)

LOL! I don't know why this put a smile on my face. Maybe just knowing that there are other people who can browse the aisles of Target as a form of psychotherapy. Makes me want to go right now. I have to agree with you about the cookbook holder-totally cute, but totally impractical unless you always cook from a book. :)

I can never get out of Target spending less than 100.00!! I rec'd that cast iron cookbook holder for Christmas ... I don't cook. Currently, my mail resides on there! I'm a multifucntion kind of gal ... I suppose ;)

You walked out of Target with only a few things? That's impressive.

And now? Now I want to go to Target. You bad influence, you.

I wish Target bring back the plastic tumbler so I can buy. They discontinued it. :(
