Here we go again!

Remember when we got all crazy last year and sold our furniture on Craigslist and moved in with my in-laws for two weeks during a horrific snowstorm so we could finish the hardwood floors?  {If not, you can read about it here, here, and here.}  Last February was cah-razy, but darnit the floors are beautiful!

So, call it the new year's inspiration or the fact that we've been dealing with vomit-inducing linoleum and extremely limited counterspace/cabinetspace for almost four years, but the DIY bug has bit yet again.  We... er...B is demo-ing the kitchen as I type and I no longer have a stitch of cabinetry. { I cannot find a pic in my archives of my kitchen in its complete state of ugly, but I'm sure if you look you'll find one! }

We might not be Young House Love, but we're going to give it our best shot!  I'm sure I'll post updates as we progress, but here's to what will hopefully not take until 2012 to complete.  Wish us luck...and lots of patience!!!

Exciting! We had white linoleum on our kitchen floor when we moved in and replacing it with hardwood was one of the first things we did. I love it! Good luck with your reno!

Our next house project is our kitchen which will involve knocking down walls. I'm kinda scared. :) I can't wait to see your finished product!

I highly recommend buying unfinished cabinets from Lowe's and painting them. We painted ours a dark brown and they are gorgeous! (I have pics on my Facebook, let me know if you want to see them!) We also got our countertop from Lowe's and LOVE it. And we got our sink from Home Depot and our faucet is in the corner, and the head is the sprayer. Our sink is black and granite and its 10 inches deep! It's wonderful! Hard work, but totally worth it!! :)

Oh lady, I feel for you! We just got our cabinets last week and I'm sooooooo happy. We lived w/o appliances or cabinets (and everything that belongs in the dining room and kitchen in our OFFICE) for months. Before Halloween! You can do it, I promise! :)

OMG, I can't believe how alike we are! Please don't think I am a freak, though, lol! I found your blog linked to someone else's for What I Wore Wednesday and became a follower a few months ago. But as I read your posts I can not get over the similarities in our lives! For instance:

1. I am married and have a 2 year old (but a girl)
2. My husband went back to school this summer to try and finish his bachelors degree (he's working full time and doing full time classes around his work schedule)
3. I have been a stay at home mom since our daughter was born but I had to jump back into a job to help pay for his school
4. I work with kids... not school, but daycare
5. We have an old house and about a year and half ago went to put wood floors down and found a huge leak in our wall, causing us to demo/rebuild the wall before our floors went down. We lived with my parents for 10days during that time.

Isn't that really weird?? Oh yeah, nice to meet you by the way... my name is Erica!

Good Luck - We redid our kitchen in 2009 and the six weeks we were told took 17 weeks. Love it now, but sure got tired of microwaved and take out food!
